Oh Mother!

Oh Mother, oh Mother, you send your sweet child to cheer me,
His happy face glowing with the dawn of your love,
How sweet is the morning! When your tender hand comes to greet me,
And your sweet child sings simply of the love of your love!

Oh Mother, oh Mother, take my sweet child to Father,
Kiss his young soul with the love of the light!
Burn him, just gently, with the fierce fire of truth,
And then set him free, like a bird on the wing.

My own soul, it grows weary, in the deep trap of time,
It grows heavy sometimes with the false weight of care.
But take your sweet child, Oh Mother, and keep him from fear,
And when I have sorrow, Mother, Oh bring his love near.
